In 2015, Ms. Stacey Cruse joined BHGH Detroit as a volunteer committee member after hearing about the impact the program had on the youth in the community, and felt inspired to join the organization.
When asked why she felt compelled to volunteer, she said, “I grew up in a true middle class upbringing. I had been privileged in my life and felt like it was time to give back”.
After several years of supporting behind the scenes, in August of 2021 she was hired as a part-time Residential Counselor and as of February of 2023 Ms. Stacey was promoted to Business Manager. Her favorite part of the program is spending time with Scholars on the weekends. “My favorite memory is the first Christmas I spent in the program and watching them celebrate the holiday. They gifted me a beautiful handmade mug I still have today. I just love watching the girls have a good time.”
